9 Days Kenya Wildlife and Cultural Safari

PRICE: From USD 5250 Per Person

Description

This amazing 9 Days Kenya safari is an eight-night, nine day safari that allows you to explore Kenya’s rich culture, stunning landscapes and classic wildlife safari destinations: Nairobi, Laikipia and Masai Mara.
The safari starts and ends in Nairobi, the country’s capital, and travels to the Laikipia plateau which is the home to the greatest population of the black rhino in East Africa, a population of southern white rhinos, the last two northern white rhinos on earth, all of Africa’s Big five game and orphan chimpanzees.
You will then end your safari with Kenya’s flagship reserve, the Masai Mara. The Mara is renowned globally for its exceptional big cat population, as well as the annual migration of over two million wildebeests, zebras and gazelles to and from Serengeti every year from July to October known as the Great Migration or the 7th Wonder of the world.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi city tour

Giraffe Centre;

After a pick up from your hotel or residency, the tour begins with a visit to the giraffe centre. Here you will see the magnificent creatures and learn why they are endangered. You will also learn their behaviours, traits and more conservation education. To cap the visit, you get the chance to feed them under the supervision of a trained staff member. 2 hours Admission Ticket Included.

Sheldrick Wildlife Trust;

Then head to the elephant orphanage which is only open for a short period each day. Here you will learn more about the baby elephants and what led them to be orphans. You will get more information on raising them and the efforts being made to re-introduce them back to the wilderness. 1 hour Admission Ticket Included.

Nairobi National Park;

After lunch, you will have a tour of the Nairobi National Park through the main gate for a 3-hour game drive. Your guide will be aiming to show you as much variety of animals as possible. If you’re lucky, you may spot the rhinos and lions getting ready for the evening. We use a safari van with a pop-up roof for easier game viewing and not a small saloon car. At around 5pm, you will depart the park and be brought back to your hotel or residency.

Day 2: Nairobi- Laikipia (flight)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your chartered flight to Laikipia. One of the greatest advantages of visiting Laikipia during your adventurous wildlife safari in Kenya with Trav Interactive Tours is an opportunity to view an abundance of wildlife while partaking activities that are restricted in national parks in Kenya. These multi-faceted activities are further enhanced by the low number of other guests due to the limited rooming capacity at the sub-conservancies, making Laikipia the perfect choice for those who desire an exclusive African safari experience.
Dependent on where you are staying in Laikipia, activities include game drives, bush walks, horseback riding, camel walks and camel rides, aerial helicopter and bi-plan safaris, village visits, quad biking, mountain biking, fishing and much more. While game drives are the most widely-available excursions in East Africa, your wildlife-seeking drives at Laikipia are truly unique – available day and night. Dinner and overnight stay at your pre-booked camp or lodge.

Day 3: Laikipia full day

Here you will visit Karisia walking safaris located in Eastern Laikipia, an area North of Mt Kenya known for its wilderness and wildlife. The area boasts the highest diversity of large mammals in Kenya and is also home to several endangered species such as the Grevy’s Zebra, Wild-dog, and Jackson’s hartebeest. The walking safaris with Karisia traverse beautiful county with geologic structures of immense age that tell stories of a turbulent and rich history. Archaeological artefacts like flints, shrad, graves and pottery litter much of the ground near the camps and in all this evidence are fascinating stories of an equally turbulent cultural history. Dinner and overnight stay at your pre-booked camp or lodge.

Day 4: Laikipia full day

On this day you can visit Tumaren camp. Situated at the eastern periphery of a wide plain, Tumaren looks westward towards a series of granitic kopjes that define Eastern Laikipia. In the foreground, you might expect to see Giraffe or other plains game that seek the safety of the open grassland. This luxury tented camp was originally the home of Kerry and James (owners of Karisia Walking Safaris) and it has 4 beautiful sleeping tents which have solar lighting and running water. Guests staying here do walks, camel rides, picnics, rock climbing and game viewing and come back to the camp each day. Dinner and overnight stay at your pre-booked camp or lodge.

Day 5: Laikipia full day

On the fifth day, you can visit one or two of Laikipia conservancies for example; Lewa, Borana, Mugie, Ol Pejeta and Segera conservancies. These are individual, privately and community-owned conservancies that offer superb distinct accommodations, exceptional exploratory activities, striking scenery and diverse wildlife experiences within the Laikipia wilderness. Dinner and overnight stay at your pre-booked camp or lodge.

Day 6: Laikipia-Masai Mara (flight)

After an early breakfast you will be transferred to your private charter to continue the adventure in the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Here, you will be able to watch the wonder of the annual wildebeest migration. A full crew of exceptional safari staff are there to look after your every need whether it is preparing a beautifully laid dinner under the stars or a piping hot shower upon return from your afternoon adventures. Whilst in the Masai Mara there is the fantastic opportunity to experience the majestic migration from above with a sunrise hot air balloon safari following by a champagne breakfast upon landing, a one in a lifetime experience.

Day 7: Masai Mara full day

The world famous Masai Mara covers an area of some 700 square miles and was established in 1961. Its Southern boundary is contiguous with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, basically encompassing the same eco system. The Masai Mara is famous for its rich and diverse wildlife especially the amazing annual migration spectacle. The wonderful vistas boast a wide variety of antelope and gazelle species together with their associated predators. It is a country of breath-taking views, a panorama of vast rolling plains and rounded hills, of intermittent groves of acacia woodlands and dense thickets of scrub. This wilderness area is bisected by the Mara and Talek Rivers, which are accompanied by interesting riverine forests and woodlands. The Mara possesses the largest population of Lions to be found in Kenya, and also supports good elephant herd populations. The big 5 can be regularly encountered including the rare Black Rhino.

Day 8: Masai Mara full

Continue with your adventure with an early morning game drive through the Mara plains. Besides the game drives guests can also take short walks, try some fishing or visit a local village. Bush breakfasts, bush dinners and sundowners are all part of the normal day and photographic opportunities are excellent all year round.

Day 9: Masai Mara-Nairobi

On this last day of your safari, you will wake up in the morning, check out of your lodge and depart the park for Nairobi. From Masai Mara national park it is a drive 6-7 hours. On your way you will make a stopover in Narok town for lunch and then proceed with your drive to Nairobi, in Nairobi you will be dropped off either at the airport or at your hotel marking the end of the safari
